The Walpurgis Night

According to one point of view, it is know that there was the nun Walpurgi who came to Germany. It was the year 748 when nun Walpurgi came from England to Germany on order to found the convent there. During her life she was recognized and the kindest one and soon she become known and respected all over the Germany. She died on February 25th and was recognized as saint one.
The Walpurgi Night is the most significant pagan fest dedicated to fertility. It is celebrated in the night of April 30th. Pagans recognized this day as the day of blooming spring that will provide them with all necessary provision for their living. They celebrated it greatly with dances and songs in honor of nature, spring and fertility.
According to belief of ancient Germans and Scandinavians the Walpurgis Night is a night of Black Sabbath. This was a night of witches' celebration. People said that it is a night when witches fly their brooms. With the help of those brooms they traveled certain places where they gathered together and that was the place of their Sabbath and place where they coupled with demons.
