Fern bloom night

The fern bloom night is another night provided with some supernatural characteristics by ancient people. It is a night common for cultures of Slavonic nations. According to the belief of those nations there is one night a year when fern is in blossom and it has the most beautiful and mysterious flower one has ever seen.

It is the night of June 22nd, the night when Slavonic nations celebrate the night of Ivan Kupala. There are a lot of different entertainments people have in that night. Most of entertainments deal with physical strength of people. So, males prove their strength, deftness, braveness and craftiness through jumping over the fire and so on and so forth.

According to this tradition it is the only night when fern is in blossom and the one who will manage to get that flower will be the happiest one. The fern grows in the forest and one who wanted to get it had to go to the forest at night and find there fern-flower. It is more like test for braveness, but not an effort to get the mysterious fern-flower.

It is obvious that there was not a single man who managed to get that flower. We know it for sure as fern is a plant that is never in its blossom. There are no fern-flowers, and any biologist can prove it to you. According to them, the fern is an issue-plant of ancient plants. Those plants have no flowers and the propagation of fern is performed in different way from the common one.
